He was born as Ranveer Singh Bhavnani on 6 July 1985 (age 33; as in 2018) in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. During the partition of India, his family shifted from Karachi to Mumbai. He removed his surname Bhavnani from his screen name as he thought the name would have been too long. He took an interest in dancing and acting since childhood. His friends and colleagues in the film industry call him by the name Bittoo. He got this name after his debut film Band Baaja Baaraat (2010) became commercially successful.
