At the age of 17, Bhatt made her acting debut in 1989 with Daddy, a TV film directed by her father Mahesh Bhatt. In the film, she plays a soul-searching adolescent girl who is estranged from her alcoholic father, played by actor Anupam Kher. Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, a version of the Oscar-winning Hollywood classic It Happened One Night, was her biggest solo hit and her big-screen debut. Pooja Bhatt has appeared in several daring shoots, including Stardust.
